A manufacturer of electric motor components required a new supplier of precision shaped copper wire. Long lead times, high scrap and tolerance variations that necessitated a sorting and matching operation were among the reasons.

Profiles worked with the motor component manufacturer on a Product Improvement Program, and, within four months, was supplying product with a scrap rate that was virtually zero. Dimensional tolerances were maintained at ±.0002" with delivered quantities of 12,000 lbs. per week and higher.

High consistency, and a closed loop dimensional audit program allowed the sorting and matching process to be eliminated. Product today is delivered to the electric component manufacturer JIT. Scrap is negligible, and production efficiencies have kept costs low.
