Precision Spacer
A prominent manufacturer of power generation equipment needed a
critical component manufactured: a precision
spacer for a new generator unit. Profiles responded to an RFQ,
but advised that, given the part’s specifications, the requested
delivery would not be possible.
Profiles offered to review other requirements, since the
customer had located a source that said it would supply
the component within the stated lead time if a substantial
premium was paid. The customer phoned the contracted supplier
after the scheduled delivery date and learned that the parts had
not even been started in production!
The customer asked Profiles to take the project, and we worked
with their engineers to redesign the spacer.
The newly-designed spacers were delivered in 5 weeks, and this
has since become a large program for both companies. Profiles
continues to work aggressively to deliver large volumes of
